Dog ALWAYS licking
Our one dog is probably about 12/13 years old now (not sure of exact age as the age we we're given by the shelter was wrong, according to the vet).
Not only is he growing increasingly anxious in his old age (he panics over literally everything... I have to put his food bowl down on a small cloth these days even because the sound of it hitting the floors sends him into a state of panic). But he's also licking like crazy too lately. I am a light sleeper and get woken up by his licking several times a night. Not just the sound, but the smell too.
His breath is HORRIBLE due to rotting teeth, but the vet doesn't want to do anymore extractions because of his age. He had 10 teeth extracted when we first got him, and despite regular brushing and the use of a tooth gel the remaining teeth have gotten bad too (the vet says due to lack of care during the course of his life- we got him when we was about 10/11 (the shelter said he was eight)).
I know dogs lick because of anxiety and he's on treatment but it's still not working. He's also on CBD oil. Is there anything else I can try?
