Is it possible to be in labour without your water breaking and no contractions?

I’m 38+3 and have pain in my vagina, like is the baby trying to get out?😩 I basically shuffle to walk and can’t lift my legs at all because it’s so painful. I was feeling pressure last night/this morning but this afternoon it has been super painful! My water hasn’t broken and I’m not having contractions but my stomach is really hard.

Your water doesn’t have to break for labor to start, but I’m 99% sure that contractions are needed for it to be considered labor

I have this pain too and I was told I have Symphysis pubis dysfunction, I’m 38 weeks and 2 days with my third and I can barely walk due to pain.

Labor is having regular contractions that bring cervical change. 
So once you start contracting and those contractions are making you dilate, that’s considered labor. Doesn’t sound like you’re there yet.

With my first I went in to be induced and was in active labor and had no idea other than the normal aches I was having from being pregnant. I didn't feel the contractions until right before my water broke!
