Big baby?

I am 30 weeks and 5 days today and I had a growth scan yesterday and was told my placenta has thankfully moved up so I don’t have a low lying placenta anymore but that my baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead on the bigger side  measuring at 4lbs 4oz. My doctor seemed pretty concerned about this. Has anyone else experienced this? And if so were you able to deliver vaginally or will I more than likely have to have A c section?

These growth scans are grossly inaccurate. My son was measured a half a pound bigger before he was born and a friend of mine was told baby would be over a pound bigger than the baby was. I would just wait and see how it goes, growth can change its trajectory. For this baby, in my 31st week it showed over 4 lbs and no one batted an eyelash.

It will probably depend on whether or not you and baby continue to stay healthy.  My first was measuring big from about 6 months on, but we were both perfectly healthy otherwise.  My doctor offered me a scheduled c-section but I wanted to try naturally (everyone kept telling me how wrong the ultrasound estimates could be so I wasn’t worried) and he was totally fine with that!  Ultimately I did not deliver naturally, but it wasn’t because baby was big (and he was big, 9.5 lbs!), however I did recover really really fast from my c-section! In theory your body won’t make a baby so big you can’t deliver naturally.  Good luck!

My friend is 38 weeks and has been having growth scans for a few months as baby has always measured on the bigger side. They have given her a sweep yesterday to help things move along but if nothing is to happen she has got to be induced x
