Colic and Chiropractor

Misty

Don’t know if anyone is in a similar boat, but thought I’d give my experience. My daughter is 7 weeks and around 3 weeks was becoming increasingly fussy, and to the point you could call it colic because of how much she cried. We had a rough couple weeks and it started getting a little better because we could at least console her if we held her constantly. However, every time you laid her down she would start screaming within seconds. Even just watching her, as soon as she started waking up and stirring, she would start stretching and grunting and immediately start screaming. She’s had gas issues and we’ve tried it all, (gas drops, probiotics, gripe water, exercises, massages, windi, ect). I read about chiropractors helping colic and at that point had nothing to lose. I took her this week and she got 3 adjustments in her neck, one in her upper back, and a big adjustment in her middle back. She screamed throughout the process but after the part was adjusted she immediately stopped crying and relaxed. He said because of how tight she was she will likely need weekly adjustments for a little bit.

However... IT HELPED. She’s not crying near as much as she was, and I can lay her down without her immediately screaming. I’ve watched her and when she wakes up and starts stretching she doesn’t immediately scream. She’s still has the gas issues and she still grunts and strains and occasionally cries out with a gas pain. But I think the bulk of our issue was she was out of alignment and it was painful, and she works so hard to relieve gas and anytime she stretched to strain she was in physical pain. She still very much prefers to be held 24/7 but I’m just glad I can lay her down now to make food or use the restroom without her screaming the entire time.

So for anyone else dealing with the colic monster, you might look into a chiropractor just to see if it helps. I’m in a local FB mom group and had seen recommendations on the chiropractor I ended up using.
