Can thyroid disease cause intense muscle, joint and back pains?

I was diagnosed and just recently put on medication for thyroid disease. My back had been hurting so badly to the point that I could barely get out of bed in the mornings without crying. I read somewhere that thyroid can affect muscles and joints. Any truth to this? Also, if you have taken thyroid medication did it help you lose weight?

My mom has it and she has a lot of pain just like that sometimes she can only lay down with a heating pad it’s so bad. She takes meds but it doesn’t make her lose weight it’s filled with hormones so she gains weight

Yes. But I feel better when I take my medication and the dosage is good. It can take a while to get an accurate dosage.
It doesn’t make you lose weight, but it also keeps me from gaining more. I gained a lot before I was diagnosed. You still have to work to get the pounds off but it will stop you from gaining additional weight due to the disease (obvs not if you’re eating bad)
