Are you planning on taking a birth class?

My midwife said that if you plan on going natural then there is no need. But if not then they are full of information that you might need.

I took a birthing class for my first and it was a really great experience. Not only did we learn a lot about labor and delivery but it was a bonding experience for my husband and me.

Didn't take any with #1 so not planning on it with #2. I do however have really good friends that had all had babies before me as a source of info from pregnancy to birthing to bfing to babywearing. My bestie from childhood just had her 4th this past mothers day (the US date). Her 1st was a scheduled c-section, 2nd was 2 days at home before calling it for a c-section, 3rd was 10.5lb boy VHBA2C, and 4th was 3 days of home labor before transferring to hospital due to failure to progress. She has answered my questions, taught me proper carseat positioning and baby placement, has tandem nursed her first 3 kids as they were all 2yrs apart, etc. I find her knowledge to have been (and still be) invaluable and don't know of a class would have been that insightful/personal... however, to each there own and good luck with whatever is chosen.

I plan on taking a hypnobirthing/hypnobabies class. My plan is an all natural birth but want to know ways of dealing with the pressure waves. Also I heard that they give GREAT information on what your options and choices are during labor. Talk about medicines and what you can and can't request of deny.

I took a general baby class right before my first. It was very helpful. And if I had to recommend another I'd choose a breastfeeding class- breast feeding can be very hard without good info! Or you can just take advantage of the lactation consultant at the hospital after lo is born. It should  be added into your birth bill whether you use them or not.

The birthing class at my hospital are only offered on Saturday mornings when my husband has school. I'm wondering if it's really worth him missing 2 out of 7 classes for it? He wants to go but I don't want him to miss something important in school.
