Can’t find baby’s heartbeat??

I’m 16 weeks and bought a doppler because my anxiety is so bad. i can’t find my baby girls heartbeat. should i worry.

It took my doctor a pretty long time to find a heartbeat at 15 weeks, and she knows what she’s doing. I wouldn’t worry and try a different time of day.

Some tips to try (because I used to get anxious, too):
1) Don't use a full bladder to help find baby. In my experience, baby was more muffled because my bladder got in the way.
2) Don't use the doppler soon after you eat. A full stomach can make it harder to find Baby, too.
3) Use plenty of gel!
4) Move very slowly with the wand when looking. And make sure before moving to a different spot that you angle the wand in every direction first. Sometimes, the angle is the only thing that's off, and baby is pretty much right there.
5) If at first, you don't succeed, take a break and try again.
6) Start really low, and work your way up. My midwife thought my baby was practically in my pubic bone at 16 weeks, but I'd found him higher than that (about halfway between there and my belly button).
7) YouTube! There are videos where other moms show how they used their dopplers. The one I liked the best even showed the mom having to give up and try again later because she couldn't find her baby the first time.

You shouldn’t worry there are a lot of moms who can’t find the heartbeat on their own with the dopper and they go to the doctors and the baby is perfectly fine. I know some moms can’t find the heartbeats for weeks and then they finally figure out where it is.  Do not stress yourself about it babe and don’t let negative comments get to you either but you can always ask your OBGYN or look on YouTube and see if they can help you

How many weeks are you? I went to a midwife appointment early in my second trimester and they couldn't find the heartbeat on two different occasions. Don't worry too much baby is still small and has a lot of space to hid in there.

Using the doppler when you have anxiety and when you may not be sure exactly what you are looking for, will likely make your anxiety worse. If you continue to use the doppler I suggest you only use it when your anxiety is very low, you will be calmer and be able to focus better on what you are doing and what you are listening to
