Overfed Breastfed Baby ( just found out )
So I am prepping to go back to work next and I was looking up how much to prep for my little ones bottle . The max you’re supposed to leave is 4oz. Babies only need 1oz to 1.5 oz per hour of breast milk .
Apparently if your baby is under 6 months , they should take 3 ounces except during leaps and growth spurts . We have been feeding my baby 4 oz bottles for a while ( 2 per day ) .So... we’ve been overfeeding our baby .. argh . I feel so bad . My baby spits up a ton but we thought it was reflux . Is it possible it’s just been overfeeding the entire time ???
For reference my baby was 14 pounds at the 2 month mark ( born 8 lbs 10 ounces ) . He went from 40th percentile 85th percentile in weight over 9 week period .
We were at the pediatrician weekly due to dealing with an allergy issue so the reflux was never the forefront .
I know I’m rambling a bit here but wanted to share my new revelation . Wish me luck as we try to get our baby back to 3 ounces when he bottle feeds. I’m happy I found this out now so we didn’t continue to overfeed when I go back to work . I
plan to train our mother in law and nanny on pace feeding .
