This is for IUD users, do you ever forget you have the IUD?

I’m adding this to sex and relationship for this question. But the other day after sex I freaked out for an embarrassing amount of time because i forgot that I have the IUD.

And then I felt so stupid that I FORGOT that I am on birth control. I went through hell getting it but..

It doesn’t do anything to me. it just chills in there and keeps me from getting pregnant. The only difference is in my life is that my periods are light and last 2 days. I have no side affects and don’t feel like i am on birth control. This enables me to completely forget that I had a plastic foreign object shoved into my womb and that it was excruciating.

My gyno told me to leave the string checks to him because it gives people anxiety that the string is gone when it’s just wrapped around the cervix, so that’s what I do.
