6 weeks 4 days and no heartbeat

I had a ultrasound today and they said the baby was measuring 6 weeks 4 days. They didn’t find a heartbeat. The doctor said at this point they should’ve seen a heartbeat and mentioned a D&C. She said I’ll come back next week for another ultrasound and if it still doesn’t have a heartbeat.. the next step would be the D&C. I was wondering if anyone else had a ultrasound this early and if you could see baby’s heartbeat? Is it normal for them to jump to doing a D&C so fast?
