Is it weird for my husband and I to know the gender, but do a gender reveal for our families?

My husband and I are having a gender reveal (virtual with a few coming in person) in about 2-3 weeks. I am toying with the idea of us knowing the gender (we should find out today) privately and the gender reveal will be more of an announcement to our friends and family. I just feel like those few weeks of us being the only ones to know would be so special. 
Would you rather find out with your SO privately and tell everyone, or find out with your SO as a surprise when you tell your friends and family? (Everyone finds out at once)

I never understood the point of a gender reveal party. We always found out at the ultrasound and then told friends and family afterwards. 🤷

I wouldn’t do a gender reveal at all. Just find out at the ultrasound and tell people when you want to. No reason for some big fanfare.

Find out if you want, but dont fake finding out at the party. That's the part that really makes me cringe is lying to everyone about knowing just so they will come. Ive seen some posts of girls planning to pretend to be surprised and its weird af.

Gender reveals are just the dumbest thing ! There is nothing better than waiting until they come out and you have the best surprise ever.. or if you find out yourselves and know the gender fine but what is the point of having a stupid party ?

I think gender reveals are weird. We opened the envelope with the results at dinner together, and gradually starting referring to the baby as “him” rather than “the baby” 🤷🏼‍♀️

Exactly what we did! We wanted the private moment to ourselves and it was so exciting. I was crying, he kissed me, it was perfect. Unfortunately, he can’t come to this one so we will ask to have it placed in an envelope and open it together at home then later do a reveal family.

That’s exactly what I did. It was nice to have a private moment at the clinic and not have a room filled with people while I was getting the ultrasound. We got a DVD of the whole thing and watched it with our immediate family a few days after at our house.
