Itchy hands?

My kid has been scratching his hands all weekend. At first I thought it was just tick, he has a bunch of those soothing techniques. But, he yelled today that he wanted the itching to stop. He has two little red marks where he has been scratching nothing bad or anything. 
Wondering if there is something causing it. He just got his flu shot last week? I mean other than that the kid doesn't leave the house. 
Definitely doesn't look like HF&M we have had that before.  Could his flu shot have caused this? Tia

Id think the only way for the flu shot to cause itching on his hands would be if he had an allergic reaction and had hives, but if there's nothing visible I'd guess that's not it. My other thought is I often get really itchy hands when they change temperature quickly (like coming inside from cold outside), or when the skin is dry (from lots of hand washing).  The temperature thing I think from changes in blood flow to the hands. Honestly if it's bothering him a lot, I'd just call the doctor.
