ADVICE on transitioning baby to own room.

So my 8 week old sleeps great in the bassinet in our room. Hubby and I want our space back so we moved baby in to his crib in his own room. First night was great, second night not so much, third night was a disaster that we caved and brought him back in our room. He would scream after 5 minutes of being left alone. Somehow he just KNOWS he is not with is. Didn't think an 8 week old would know the difference. Will try again in like 2 weeks. (We will be out of town next weekend without the kids and I am not going to make my mother in law deal with that during the night lol) Any tips or how long this will last???
