Do twins really skip a generation?

My grandmother had about 12 kids. I kind of plan to have a lot of babies like her😊. Among those kids she had my mom who was a twin. So now everyone believes my sister or I will have twins? Is this a myth or a hypothesis? I mean I wouldn't mind having twins but my sister is a whole different story? Any of you ladies having twins or have had twin? Any other twins in the family?

Not all the time. I know ladies that are twins and had twins.

Honestly in my family it hasn't skipped a generation. My grandfather (dad's side) was a twin, my aunts are twins (dad's side) and I'm a twin. I have 3 kids now and no twins but I'm at risk of twins every pregnancy. My sister and brother don't have kids yet.

I've heard of this and my sister and I are also "at risk" for having twins. I wouldn't mind having twins, my sister has already had one son and only plans on having one more child so I'm not sure how she'd feel about twins. Not sure if it's related (but Def tmi) I sometimes feel I could be the one to have twins as my af is usally pretty heavy and lasts a full 7 days. So sometimes I feel like it's not just 1 egg that was released. Silly I know, but geez would it make sense.

Not all the time :) my mom had 2 sets of twins (one surviving set one set passed away at delivery). I am one of the twins and hve 2 yr old fraternal twins.

I'm always called fertile myrtle now that we now I release multiple eggs at a time. And the older you get the more eggs are released as well. Women in their mid-late 30s and early 40s are more likely to have twins as well
