What should I expect in a 6 week sonogram?

Going next week for 6 week (to be exact) ultrasound due to a past miscarriage and lots of stress.
What should I expect?

Be prepared to not see a heartbeat yet and freak out. Some have it that early, others don't. One of my kids didn't at 6 weeks 4 days, and it worried me. I actually try to avoid ultrasound until 7 weeks or more for that reason.

Honestly you may not see much! Especially if it’s an abdominal ultrasound

Be prepared to not see much. 6 weeks is based off lmp and if you ovulated later in your cycle you'll be earlier. You could seen a sac and nothing else. A yolk sac, a fetal pole with no heartbeat or nothing. Heart beat starts end of the 5th week into the 6th. These early scans sometimes cause more stress than if you were to just wait for a later scan. This early serial hcg blood draws can be more informative by monitoring increasing levels. Try not to stress based on what you see. This early everyone is a little different.
