Questions for my gynecologist ?

I have a drs appointment tomorrow because I’m trying to get pregnant. It’s been about 7 months with no luck and I just want to make sure we are all good. I’m trying to think of some questions to ask my dr that would help me. Is there any questions you guys asked your dr besides the generic questions? Honestly anything would be helpful. I’d like to be prepared when I go in because I’ll be by myself and won’t have anyone else thinking of something I wouldn’t to ask on the spot.

We tried for 8 months before talking to my doctor. I did a lot of research ahead of time, so went into the appointment knowing what I wanted to do. We started with a semen analysis for my husband, it is the cheapest and the easiest step if your insurance doesn’t cover fertility work-up (mine did not) - my doctor referred us to a local fertility clinic for this, but everything else she was able to do herself. 
After the SA came back normal, I had a hysterosalpingogram (HSG), which is an x-ray if your Fallopian tubes with contrast to make sure that the tubes were open.  My HSG was also normal, and at this time we were at 9 months of trying, so my regular OB gave me a prescription for Clomid, 3 months worth. If I was not pregnant after 3 months, she was going to refer me to a fertility specialist. I ended up getting pregnant on my first round of Clomid and gave birth to my son in December 2019. 
While I don’t have suggested questions to ask, I do encourage you to be your own advocate. Typically, a doctor won’t want to do a fertility work up until you have been trying for a year without success, but that doesn’t mean they can’t!  I was 34 at the time and told my doctor that I did not want to wait a full year of trying, only to find out at that time that there was an issue. I would rather know sooner!!

Not a question but more a mental note - if any of you are overweight prepare yourself for"the weight talk" . My fitst gynecologist was one for sugarcoating anything, and it took me by surprise (nor in a good way!)

I would ask for a referral to a fertility clinic. You want to see an RE. Your gyno won’t have the experience to get into the details. Insurance will cover after 6 months if you’re over 35, otherwise after 1 year of trying.

My friend is going through this right now. She got hormone blood tests done for her and hubby, a pelvic ultrasound for herSelf, a sperm analysis for hubby as a starter xx
