How much does your newborn eat?

I’m curious how much your babies eat and how often they eat?? My son is 5 weeks old and eats 3-4 ounces every 2-3, sometimes 4 hours. He’s just about 9 pounds, was 5 pounds at birth. I brought him to the dr today for some stomach issues, I was thinking it was the formula, which I recently switched to from breastfeeding because I wasn’t producing enough. Well his doctor said he’s eating too much and needs to be eating 2 ounces every 2 hours. They also switched his formula. Has anyone else had this happen? I’m really not comfortable waking him up from naps to eat every 2 hours, but if I only feed him 2 ounces he’ll still be hungry. I’m really not sure what to do. He’s been sleeping great at night and he’s on a good schedule and I really hate to ruin that.
