Did you get the Amniocentesis test?

Question

This is the test that determines if your baby is likely to have down syndrome. 
I’m 8 weeks along and curious about other’s experiences. Results would not affect if we kept pregnancy.

I actually recently got it done around 31 weeks to check for heart genetic heart disorder. It's more uncomfortable than it painful but my doctor rec it so I decided to get it done. Right after they took it my baby moved and pressed her head where the needle was and stopped the bleeding

I got the nipt test. That came back very low risk. 
I did still have a soft marker at my 20 week scan for DS and was offered the amniocentesis test but I dedined it.

Get the NIPT, it checks for genetic disorder such as Down syndrome and there’s no risk of miscarriage associated with it and it’s 99% accurate.

I didnt do it because I'm the type of person even if it said 1% chance I would be worried the whole pregnancy.  Plus my insurance didnt pay for it.  300$ test nope :) I was just glad he was healthy and I did all the ultrasound

I was high risk for a baby with genetic issues... I took the NIPt which came back low risk and now am just seeing maternal fetal medicine. I declined the amnio - 1/500 risk of miscarriage. I didn’t want to have that worry to!

I’m still trying to decide. It wouldn’t effect our pregnancy. I wouldn’t be able to terminate a baby that we tried for just because of Down syndrome but I would also like to know to prepare. So I’m undecided.

If it wouldn’t affect the outcome I wouldn’t get it. 
The quad screening tests can tell you the risk, beyond that an US can help to also identify red flags. These together can tell you if you’re high risk/likely to be carrying a baby with DS. 
the other test is invasive and to me if it’s not going to change the outcome then it’s not necessary. You can prepare if the resets point to yes by delivering at a hospital that will be equipped to handle a DS baby who may have heart issues at birth, and then if baby comes out without DS no harm in being at that hospital.
