Saying he's tired but won't nap
My toddler (2yo almost 3) has 1 nap a day, we usually put him down around 1:30 and gets up around 3:30. Lately he's been saying he's tired and wants to go to bed but it's only 10am and when I put him down at the regular nap time he's struggling to get to sleep or doesn't end up napping at all. So the last 2 days I tried putting him down a bit earlier (around 12/12:30) but he just rolls around in bed for an hour or so then falls asleep around the time I normally put him down (1:30). Today he started saying he's tired wants to go to bed at 9am so I made up a snack and asked him again if he really wants to go have a sleep he says yes and runs off to bed but it's 11am now and he's been in his bed since 10 and he's still just rolling around not sleeping. He's sleeping like normal at night so he shouldnt be tired from being awake at night. Why does he keep telling me and acting so tired yet won't go to sleep? I thought maybe I could just put him down earlier when he says he was tired so I wasn't missing his window and catching a second wind of energy but putting him down early hasn't changed anything he still isn't napping. Since he was a baby I've always been able to know how to adjust his naps to work but I'm not sure what to do now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
