12 Year Olds *updated.*
I’m just a step-mom so what do I know? But there are certain things I do not agree with children doing or asking to be done.
My step daughters mother took her to get her nails done and instead of getting her regular gel manicure - she put acrylic nails on her! It’s not just a small nail, it’s like what I would do as an adult. I just don’t think that’s appropriate for a child 🤷♀️ am I crazy for thinking that? She also got her a second ear piercing!
My husband and I had a conversation with her about wanting to get artificial nails put on and getting multiple piercings and the case was closed on her waiting until she’s maybe 16+ due to the fact that it’s just NOT something children do or have done or should be doing anyways.
My husband and I think her mom is just trying to beat me to getting things done for her but this was just wrong in my opinion.
Small back story - her mom got pregnant with her at 15. She’s already made comments about wanting to do things her mom did when she was younger and I’m like
Am I wrong to think that’s inappropriate and she’s already bringing her in the wrong direction? Would you allow your daughter to get artificial nails and multiple ear piercings?
* For those of you stating that it’s not my business - it actually IS my business when I am the one who takes care of her and pays for everything she needs/wants. Her mother does nothing for her that benefits her and leaves her all over town with different people while my husband and I actually care where she’s headed in life.
I’ve raised her just as much - if not MORE than the woman who gave birth to her. So for all of YOU getting “your panties twisted”, please get it together. I asked for your opinion on if you’d let your 12 year old do these things. I didn’t ask for your BS opinion on me being a step mother.
* edit #2:
Husband agreed with ME and TOLD her mother no nails until we say so. Nails are coming off as we speak 😌
Thanks to everyone with some common sense who commented. Everyone else... 🖕🤪🖕
