First appointment at 5 wks and 4 days?

Is that too soon? Would you even be able to see/hear the heartbeat? I found out I was pregnant the day I missed my period(yesterday) and today I called the Obgyn and they scheduled me on dec 1st, I'll only be 5 weeks. I feel like that's really early.

If it were me, I would wait till 9-10 weeks. I know its tough to wait that long but here's the differences between 5 & 10 weeks:
5 - no heart beat, no movement, just a tiny little nothing of a blob
9 or 10 - you will hear a heartbeat, it actually resembles somewhat of a little person (more like a gummybear actually, but the parts are there), you may see some slight movement.
You likely won't get to see your baby again till week 20, in my opinion, its better to hear the heartbeat and see a little person rather than going asap and seeing basically what looks like a little blob.
Here's my 9 seek scan, you can see eyes, ears, hands, feet and umbilical chord. It's all there, just little :)

It's usually around 8 weeks. All depends on mamas health and the doctors tho.

I had an appt at 6 weeks and barely seen the heart. Definitely cannot hear it that soon

At some offices like mine the first appointment is more of an administrative one, taking your medical history, filling out paperwork,etc and can be used to determine if there are any high risk things that need to be addressed early (like teratogenic medications you are on, etc), and then the second visit is when you actually have your ultrasound. I would keep the appointment, but know that even if they are planning an US, you probably wont see much yet and they will likely repeat it in a couple of weeks. Congratulations though!
