Am I really that gross??

Question

I work as a gift shop clerk. I have not broken dress code at my work, but I have been wearing shirts with thick straps as to not touch my 3rd degree burns. I was stupid and was out in the sun for too long while fishing and forgot sunscreen. 
I’ve had many customers tell me that they find it very gross and disrespectful that I have my “disgusting skin” out for “show”. I’ve had a few tell me that I even scare their kids.... 
It’s honestly just too painful to wear anything covering them. My boss hasn’t said anything besides that it looks painful and that they hope I heal soon. Am I really “gross” for not covering my burns?

I'd be more concerned on treating your burns than what people say how you look. I had burns like that and had to go to the clinic for sun poisoning.

I may be an outlier here, but I find it pretty gross to have open wounds on display in a customer service job. Can’t you wear a soft thin material shirt to cover them? I mean, it’s peeling and scabbed. That is not the way I would want my employees presenting to customers. And the fact that customers have actually said something!?

I feel so bad for people in customer service. People can be so raw and ignorant. I don’t find your arm gross because Iv been burned before and Iv had scrapes and scars and I’m human and your human and I see past things like that.

Not gross at all but if you have fresh aloe leaves in stores near you open them and put the aloe on all day long. I've had burns like that and blisters and that worked best. The aloe in stores is ok but not as natural and effective as from the leaves. Your not gross they are for disrespecting you. If they're kids are scared they should tell them to wear sunblock so they dont make the same mistake. They need to educate them on it not talk shit to you
