Infant sit-me-up

Question

So my son is 12 weeks old and a temporary Pedetrician that we took him to told us to get him a sit-me-up sort of seats for him so he can sit up on his own. I didn’t know they make those for infants this young? Does anyone know what she is talking about or should I not listen to her? I just feel like 12 weeks is too young to be sitting in one of those without my support...what do you think?

This is the sit me up seat. People do start to use them around 3 months age. It’s not something we ever used personally but I’ve seen others use them.

Not specifically this one. We got one to use when baby is a little older. 12 weeks seems early. They’re not meant to teach baby to sit. You use tummy time to strengthen their muscles and then when they’re getting close to unassisted sitting you start using it you know when they want to be propped up all the time instead of laying down? That’s a perfect time so I’d say closer to 16ish weeks but that may even be early!

We have this chair for babe to be able to ‘sit’ and watch us do stuff. I might hold off on getting something like a jumper/or bumbo until you can talk to your regular pediatrician. Mine recommended against things that help baby sit upright before they’re developmentally ready/have the muscles to do it themselves.
