I took NyQuil. Is that ok?

I got a cold, I was feeling very miserable. I have Nyquil at home and just took it without thinking about the risks. I’m so worried now. 
I’m 18 weeks, I will have a appointment next week. I’m so anxious to know my baby is okay

If you just took the one dose, it’s fine. The amount of alcohol in liquid NyQuil is miniscule and it’s not like you drank the whole bottle.  Plus, you’re well into your second tri and I wouldn’t worry. Just don’t keep taking it.

if its the gel tablets or the syrup i would call your doctor because those contain alcohol but otherwise i wouldnt stress too hard & id call the dr in the morning to see if its safe for continuous usage. my dr told me to take tylenol cold & sinus when i had a cold so i know thats safe during pregnancy & something i do recommend.

It's the active ingredient phenylephrine that is unsafe during pregnancy, but really only linked to any potential issues if taken during the first trimester. Alcohol is obviously not great to consume either, but the amount in a dose is really not large enough to cause any harm. Either way, I can't imagine one dose of the medicine is going to cause any issues.
