Would you pay for therapy for your younger sister suffering from PTSD and depression?

I decided to have my sister stay with me after witnessing my mom overdose 2x and more. The places that take her insurance are completely booked and it’s Medicaid in Philadelphia. I’m afraid if I wait or get her in with a shitty practice based on her insurance, she may not have good results. Should I pay for this? It will be roughly $400 a month, I can do it . I have 3 kids to take care of on my own . I will have to be frugal but it’s important. I was thinking to ask my mom to split costs but it’s not guaranteed and should I even ask her ??? Advice

I don’t know your entire situation but it sounds like your sister could seriously use the help. If you are able to cover it, I say jump on it now and worry about consulting about the cost later. I think it’s fantastic you’re putting your sisters mental health first. I hope she’s able to get the help she needs.

Have you looked deeply at all option? 
Just because some place takes Medicaid doesn’t make them shitty. Her getting any help is a positive at this point. I’d also look at places that will offer sliding scale cash payments. A lot will go lower than what’s on the website. It never hurts to ask. 
Also, it’s really your moms responsibility to pay. I don’t see a downside to at least asking, but you know your own family situation best.

If you can afford it and still be comfortable, I would. I wouldn’t depend on mom’s help if she has issue with addiction, but it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

I would try finding a therapist who is willing to work with you on the price a bit. Maybe see if they can go down to $60 per session or even less. My first therapist charged me $40 per session.

If you’ve taken guardianship of her, you have taken on the financial responsibility that comes with it, including whatever care she may need. You can ask your mom, but if she won’t, that shouldn’t stop you.

I’d exhaust all other options first. Maybe call 211 to see if they know of other places that have openings? Call the insurance company? Sliding scale places? Maybe drive a little further? Don’t forget just because they take Medicaid doesn’t mean they’re crappy. I wouldn’t actually expect anything from the mom but I’d still ask her to pay some regardless. 
But if all else fails and you can swing it then yes I’d consider paying.

Maybe look into incomed based or womens clinics who may have an opening. They may also be able to help get her relocated to where her insurance is accepted.  Id also talk it over with your spouse or s/o first.

If she really needs the help and you can afford it then yes, and when there’s an opening at the free place have her switch over.
