Mucus Plug & Cramps

Yesterday, at different times of the day, I had very painful menstrual-like cramps similar to the ones I had before I was pregnant. However, they only lasted 5-10 minutes. They felt different from the Braxton Hicks that I'm used to. Today I have been losing pieces of my mucus plug, but there have been no cramps or Braxton Hicks. My doctor is closed on the weekends. Am I safe to wait to call until Monday?
