Court jail.??

A month ago I went to jail for shoplifting $200 at Walmart lmao I’m dumb I know lesson learned never again but I spent the night n payed bail the next day n got out I got court Monday I’m wondering do y’all think I’ll go to jail again smh it was my first offense. I’ve gotten a ticket for public intoxication but in another state. Already payed that one didn’t go to jail or anything just had to pay the ticket.
Yea I did learn my lesson lol the public intoxication was earlier this year n the shoplifting was last month I know that was stupid to do I’m not gonna do it again I just don’t wanna go back to jail lol

I work as a nurse in a prison. Most of the theft charges I see are for thefts totaling greater than $2,000. So, I’d guess you wouldn’t over $200, but I certainly wouldn’t expect you to get a pass either. That being said, I imagine you may have some kind of fine/community service, etc. If you don’t comply with that, you’d be visiting my side of the fence.

There’s a chance you could get time served, but you only did one day, so it’s a very small chance. You’ll probably have to pay restitution unless they got the stolen items back, definitely will have to pay court fees, possibly will get put on probation and more than likely will have to do community service. 
I was charged for having 1/2 oz < 1 1/2 oz of marijuana, marijuana paraphernalia, and resisting arrest. I did 10 days and got time served, and had a shit ton of prior charges. For one of the charges before that, I got community service, but didn’t do it, so instead of going to jail I did 1 year of probation. My fiancé got charged with 6 counts of felony breaking & entering/larceny as well as a misdemeanor and he got 3 years supervised probation. Fucked up and served some time in prison, got out, and is now on unsupervised probation for the remaining 1 1/2 years. So, knowing ALL this, you can be pretty certain that you’re not going back to jail.
Just don’t do it again. A record really fucks your life up and it’s really hard to get your shit together when you have one.

My brother stole a 12$ phone case from Walmart and got caught when he was 18 and had to pay like 500$ in fees. So if anything you’re going to be paying a lot. Walmart takes their theft seriously.
