Toddler bed?

Is your toddler in a toddler bed yet? How did you decide it was time to ditch the crib?

We are waiting until LO starts attempting to climb out. Right now it is sooo nice that LO is contained at night and nap time.

Short families are finally at an advantage! Lol My son is so short, he's still going to be good for a bit. He's wild at night and bounces on the bed and such, so we definitely are going to hold out for as long as possible to avoid midnight play sessions. We already have a toddler bed in his room though, so he can check it out and learn how to lay in it. We did the same with potty training at one and he took over and goes on the potty regularly since, so I'm kinda waiting for the day he lays down at nap time in it to let him take his first nap there. He knows what he wants in life. Lol

Our toddler is a pretty crazy sleeper. He’s all over the place. I’m not sure how we are going to be able to transition him to a toddler bed. Luckily he hasn’t tried to climb out yet! 🙌

I wouldn’t rush it unless it’s unsafe because of climbing. As long as you use a crib you have the kid contained. They can’t fall out, can’t get up without you noticing, can’t get out of bed every 5 mins at night when they don’t feel like sleeping, etc. My daughter happily slept in her crib until she was 3. At that point the transition was super easy. She was proud of her new big kid bed and stayed in it right away. I would like to leave my February baby in the crib for quite a while longer, too. So far he doesn’t climb. But he also sleeps in a sleep sack, which makes that quite a bit harder. 🤷🏼‍♀️

My girl is on her crib still. She’s a wild sleeper. Idn when I’ll transition it to a toddler bed.

We went to a toddler floor bed at 13 months and my son did great! We just moved him to a twin bed a couple of weeks ago. He was a great independent sleeper before we moved him though so I think that definitely helped the transition.

He started climbing out. By 14 months he could get out no problem with the crib on the lowest setting. Nights are fine in his own bed but it’s impossible to get him to nap.

Going to try to hold out until at least after Christmas to maybe her 2nd birthday. She hasn’t climbed out yet but even with the crib on it’s lowest level she’s already almost tall enough to bend over the top... so we will try to switch before she has a chance to fall or climb. The reason we haven’t yet is partially our living situation, we will have our own place by then and she will have her own room so thats probably when we will start the transition.

My son cosleeps with us and we are trying really hard to transition him to his own toddler bed before baby #2 gets here but he is not having it.

Technically he's still in the crib but we took one of the walls off and put up a mesh barrier (sturdy enough to keep him from falling off the bed). Did that as soon as he started climbing out of the crib. I think that was around 15 months old? I don't remember but it's been a while. 😅
