Boyfriend leaving for BT during Covid

My boyfriend leaves in a month for basic training. Due to COVID and me being in college we are in separate states, so I won’t get to see him before he leaves. I’m just looking for any advice from anyone other girlfriends that had to go through their boyfriend going through basic training during COVID. I know communication is going to be tough and he just informed his two weeks leave after graduation was suspended due to covid which is understandable but we planned to be together during that time. Any pointers or shared experiences?
