Anyone go from 0 to baby?

40w1d, no contractions, not dilated... Nothing! Is is possible to go from 0 to baby or do people usually dilate a little at a time and then finally go into labor? I am okay with baby coming when ready but really don't want to be induced. My OB said she wont induce until after 41 weeks but I really really want my body to do this au'natural.

I went from 0 to 1cm around 8am then at 10am i went to a 2cm (got my mebrane swept) at 5pm i was at a 4cm , at 6pm i jumped to a 7 and mt water broke then at 10pm my baby boy was born. Happened all so quick and all in one day for me. FTM 😊

I woke up to my water breaking and being 8cm dilated 20 minutes later when I got to the hospital. Didn't even have contractions until after the dr checked me. 
I didn't have any checks before that so I don't know if I was already dilated at all but in my experience it can happen pretty quickly.

As of today I am finally starting to dilate! Only 1/2cm but its something!! About 60%effaced. 40w2d. Keep it up baby! Cant wait to meet you!

Are you effaced at all? For FTM's, effacement is far more of a "sign" than dilation. If you are effaced, you CAN go from 0-100 in active labor.

I don't know, but I'm hoping! I'm 40+1 as well, and no sign of labor. Doc checked me on Friday and said I was 1cm but not much for thinning out yet. Really hoping to avoid an induction.
