Nexplanon and spotting

Has anyone who has the nexplanon been told that if you start spotting heavily that you can take the birth control pills for a month and that should clear it up? I got mine around a month ago and have been spotting like crazy since when I never used to do that and it’s driving me crazy. I think I remember my doctor telling me I could take the pills but I can’t remember for sure, I have a terrible memory, and wanted to check our little community before I called and asked!
