Clogged milk duct?

I think I have a clogged duct. It’s painful. How do I treat this? Thanks.

My on suggested a hot shower while gently massaging them, but to be careful not to over irritate, and take some ibuprofen to reduce swelling as well. Try to pump to relive some of the milk! I also heard cold dry cabbage leaves help ALOT, as long as you don’t do it often as it can reduce milk.

Feed on that side first at feedings and gently massage the area in a circular motion then push toward the nipple. I had a clogged duct last night and by the 2nd time my daughter fed on it, it cleared up. Good luck!

What worked for me with my first was to pump and or nurse a ton and actually rub out the clogged duct as you do that. I would knead it with my knuckle. It worked, it hurt, but it worked 🤷‍♀️

Nurse on that side, preferably after a hot shower (loosens things up) Dangle feed. Point baby’s chin towards the clogged side.

I used a washcloth that was wet and microwaved for 15-20 seconds. Once it cooled enough to tolerate I put it on the clogged area for 30-60 seconds. Then I immediately fed baby and did compression to the area. It worked every time I had to do it with my first.

Massage massage massage. Keep nursing that side. You can dangle nurse too and massage while nursing/pumping. Heat helps and you can use an electric toothbrush or even a vibrator to that spot to help loosen it.
