Is there a genetic link between Type 1 Diabetes and PCOS?
My mom was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was 18 years old. I, her daughter, got diagnosed with PCOS when I was 22. Is there a genetic link between the two? I’m having problems finding concrete sources online, so I’m turning to y’all for help with this. I know that Type 2 Diabetes is greatly linked to PCOS because of obesity and insulin resistance, but what about Type 1? Could it be possible that because my mom has an insulin resistance in the form of Type 1 Diabetes, that she passed on an insulin resistance to me in the form of PCOS because Type 1 Diabetes is genetic, but Type 2 is not? Please help me to understand this, and feel free to site me a few sources so that I can try to better understand, as well. Thank you for your support and help!
