How many outfits does a newborn actually need?

What type of outfits? 
(I’m doing my own research on the side but would also like your input. First time mom here.)
Edit: due date is April, I know that’s kind of in between warm and cold season.

You'll want mostly sleepers! I wayyyy over bought with my first. I mainly shopped at goodwill cuz they grow out of newborn stuff SO fast. Id say 10 sleepers and 10 onesies and pants then a couple cute outfits for when you want to dress the baby up a little more! Just a rough estimate of what we actually used out of the closet full of newborn clothing we had lol

I didn't put my baby in any real outfits for a long time. He wore sleep and play outfits forever.

I'd say like 14 7 of those being day wear and 7 of those being pajamas. I wash clothes every other day so for us we don't need much.

We had so many newborn outfits given to us, 1. He was a big baby and outgrew them quickly, and 2. He was in the sleep and play outfits most of his first 3 months. It wasn’t until he was older and had more of a schedule that we started doing like day clothes and pajamas

I had 5 gowns and 5 outfits in newborn size that we just rotated through. Honestly I think that was plenty

I want yo say we have 25-30 outfits/sleepers total. Sometimes they have to be changed multiple times. And I don’t love doing laundry every single day. We are having a winter baby and right now he’s only 26th % so I’m worried we may actually need more depending on when he comes as I may have to be induced due to gestational hypertension. He may be small and he very well may be in NB longer than what people say. But I’ve also seen so many moms say that the wish they’d had more, the ones who only had a few things, because they had to do so much laundry and then their kids wore NB for 2-3 months so they had to buy more. But it doesn’t seem to be the norm although I see it and I’d rather have more than I need than not enough 🤷🏻‍♀️
