MFM for thyroid issues?

Hi everyone! Question for you, I had my son in January of this year. Prior to having him, we tried to conceive for 3 1/2 years. A year and a half of that was seeing a fertility specialist. We did three rounds of Clomid with a trigger shot and timed intercourse with no success. We then moved onto Femara, trigger shot and IUI. Both of the treatments were successful but unfortunately the first resulted in miscarriage.

Long story short, I went back to my fertility specialist about six weeks ago to get the process started and put a plan in place to start trying for baby number two after the first of the year when my son turns one. However, God had other plans and we can conceived naturally while not really trying nor preventing. I have an overactive thyroid and my TSH level is consistently on the lower side. I see an endocrinologist and he follows this regularly. I received a call today from my fertility specialist that she would recommend for me to start seeing a maternal fetal medicine specialist to follow me throughout this pregnancy. Do you think that it is necessary to see a high-risk specialist? I have the exact same issue with my son and he was perfectly fine and healthy by just following my levels both with my OB and my endocrinologist for my thyroid. This is a new reproductive specialist that I am seeing; as my original one from my first son moved to a different practice. She seems young and I’m not sure if she is just trying to cover all bases or if she really thinks that it is medically necessary for me to see a high-risk specialist. I will do whatever I have to do to ensure that our baby is healthy and that this pregnancy progresses with no issues but I just found it to be strange that my circumstances have not changed from a year ago when I was pregnant the first time but yet the plan seems to be so different. Any thoughts would be appreciated.i have no experience with MFM so I wanted to see if any of you ladies do.
