How do you know your little one is full from breastfeeding?

My baby girl usually just drops it and will fall asleep but within a few minutes like 30mins or 1 hour she’ll wake up again moving her mouth that she’s hungry and will start sucking her fingers

My lactation consultant said not to let them fall asleep until you’ve switched sides. It’s nice and comfy cosy warm so they get sleepy and won’t eat enough at each feed. What I do is feed on one side until she starts pushing away, then we do a diaper change (if she doesn’t need one I just walk her to her change table and undo her clothes and tickle her feet for a second lol), then we feed from the other side. I let her fall asleep on the second side as long as she’s already been there a few minutes. You can also like remind them to keep eating by using your finger to touch under their chin. Another “test” is when she starts slowing down I very slowly try to pull my nipple out and if she’s full she lets me and if she was just taking a little break she tries to latch back on.
I’m a ftm so I have no real clue if I’m doing the right things or not lol but it seems to be working and extending our feeds, which in turn extends our time between feeds.

If they are making enough wet and dirty diapers and gaining weight, then it’s normal to breastfeed on demand. Some babies eat every few hours, others eat every hour (cluster feed).
