Would you buy a new home if the previous owners smoked inside regularly?

Why or why not?
I personally wouldn’t because it would take so much to really have it properly cleaned and smoke free and the smell would be so hard to get rid of.  Plus the stains.  It wouldn’t be worth the hassle to me.

Not unless it had been fully remodeled, meaning all new dry wall, paint, air ducts, floors, any subfloors, counters etc. Anything less than that, it’s a deal breaker.

My MIL inherited a house that’s been smoked in for 60+ years. Everything she gives us has to be quarantined for a few days before I even try to clean it. ￼she’s trying her best, bless her heart.

Huge deal breaker. They didn't disclose this when I bought my house. Someone had been smoking in the bathroom mainly and even after scrubbing the walls our paint didn't stick right because if the tar build up. Totally disgusting. Never noticed a smell, we replaced carpets and what not but I worry about the ducts and vents and everything. Luckily we are planning on moving next year 🤞
It's repulsive, I can't believe people willingly ruin their homes like that.

It's not just cleaning and painting. You'd need to gut the walls, it soaks into the drywall. Not unless the place was damn near free would I be willing to do that

Even when I was a smoker (many many years ago) I never smoked in the house, ANY house even if it wasn’t mine and others smoked. I have always found it disgusting and impossible to get rid of the smell fully.

Heavy smoke just makes the home smell weird and I’ve been to people’s houses that smelled like it. So definitely a deal breaker

The flat I'm currently at was awful when we first moved. Still not great but we put in a lot of work to sort it out. Trying to get a house atm and I'm hoping we avoid a yellow stinking shit hole this time. I'm not buying so it isn't too awful, if I was buying it would have to be at a price I could fully renovate it at.
