Is it weird that I wanted to take nice photos of myself ??

So I have messaged a few photographers to have a little photo shoot for myself. 
Almost all of them asked me if it’s a family photo shoot or an engagement photo shoot. 
I said no. It’s just for me. 
(The reason I wanted one was because I had a rough year. My bf broke up with me. I still live at home with my parents and I’ve been depressed because I’m in my mid 20s and I don’t like where my life is. I wanted to do something to make me feel confident and I wanted beautiful pictures other than selfies, to post on my social media ) 
And all of them stopped replying to me ??!? 
Like wtf. 
I am a paying customer for them and they didn’t care to reply and make an appointment with me. 
Is it that weird that I wanted some nice photos of my life ? Like damn. Lol

That’s where they make their money, especially around the holidays.  I’d save the money you were gonna spend towards a photographer and put it towards moving out and getting a fresh start.  Look for a student that will probably do it for fee or little to no cost if you let them use copies of the pictures to help them build their portfolio.

Depends on what they specialize in. There are a lot of photographers out there at specialize in couple/family because they can charge a little more. So you are right, lots of people do! You just might be tracking down the wrong photographer 😄

They are being stupid. People get individual photos all the time. Being a couple or family doesnt make it any more legitimate. Plus tons of people need professional head shot pictures for their jobs, often in a non-studio setting. Those unprofessional photographers dont deserve your business.

That seems quite unprofessional. It's too bad you are most likely not from my hometown (In Ontario) as my friend is just starting a photography portfolio and would probably enjoy working with you.

it’s not wrong to want a personal photo shoot i’ve done many before! find someone else i’m
side there are many photographers where you’re at 
tell them you just want a gun photo shoot for yourself 
someone that’s not uptight will definitely be willing to help especially upcoming photographers that need experience 
or maybe tell them you’re wanting to put together a portfolio for yourself

Where are U from? There are boudior shoots or glamour shoots you can book where they even offer you a glass of wine and do your makeup.... Search for those photographers styles and what a great empowering idea. Wish I though of that when I was in slump in my 20's now I'm all wrinkles

Maybe you worded the message in a weird way? Can’t think of any other reason why any photographer would pass on photographing someone, let alone many doing the same thing. I follow few photographers online and I see them taking photos of single people a lot. You don’t need to justify your reason for taking photos, if they don’t value you as a paying customer then you are better off with more professional photographers. Research for better people. Don’t let your confidence shrink, take care!
