Blood clots with copper IUD?!

I got my copper iud roughly 3 weeks ago. I’ve been spotting here and there but started bleeding pretty heavy last night. I’m soaking through Super tampons within 2 hours and I’m passing nickel-quarter size blood clots. I have light cramping very occasionally. Is this normal??? Helllllllp 🥺

did you talk to your OB? im experiencing this now & i've had my iud for 2-3 months now

So your period will get heavier with copper IUDs but if your gynecologist didn’t warn you about blood clots then I would call them ASAP and ask about it because it sounds dangerous
