What kind of ultrasound?

I’ll be 10.5 weeks when I go for my first ultrasound. Do you think it will be a transvaginal ultrasound or a regular one ?

They should do abdominal after 8 weeks baby should be big enough to see.

Most likely transvaginal. Most doctors won’t do abdominal until closer to 14 weeks.

I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks 5 days. The tech said she would only do a trans-vaginal ultrasound if she could not see what was needed externally. She was able to see it all externally, but I would go prepared for either.

I had my first ultrasound at 8w6d and they try to do abdominal after 8 weeks where I’m at.

I had an abdominal and measured 7w1d. The only time I had a transvaginal was with my first pregnancy. They tried abdominal and couldn’t see anything, then switched to transvaginal and I ended up measuring 6w4d that way

It could go either way. I’ve had an abdominal at 8, 10, and 12 weeks.
Sometimes it just depends on the preference of your clinic. Sometimes it depends on your size. Sometimes it’s just random (I’m small, and my first pregnancy my 8w one was vaginal, yet with this pregnancy I’ve only had abdominal, same clinic).  
So, who knows!
