What age would you, or have you moved a child to their own room in a finished basement?

Answer

I probably wouldn't. In case of fire or an emergency I would want my child that far away from me. And as a teen it wouldn't want to make it too easy for them to sneak out.

I moved into the basement when I was 11, almost 12, years old. My sister moved into the room next to mine and she was 9 years old. My parents had 5 kids, more snuck out from the upstairs rooms than the basement rooms because the basement door was obnoxiously loud and the window we had the crawl through the dirt.

Like 16 or 17. Not something hubby and I would consider at a young age

I was 12 when I moved to my own room in the basement. So excited to not share a room at that point I didn’t mind at all
