When you wash your hair do you usually let your conditioner rest for a few minutes or do you rinse it out immediately?

I wash my hair first, apply conditioner, do everything else then rinse.

I massage it in, put it up in a loose nautical bun, do the rest of my shower routine, take out the bun and rinse, and then get out 
So it sits for like 15 minutes or whatever
