Rocker or glider in nursery??

Question

What are people’s thoughts on a rocker/glider for nursery? We have a very comfy chair that my mother in law gave us that will look great in the nursery, however it does not rock or glide. I’m wondering from experienced moms do you think having a chair that rocks or glides is necessary? Or is any comfortable chair just fine? Just trying to see if we should buy a new chair. Thanks!

Dont mean to recommend that I just wanted to throw my comment in that I don’t believe a chair that rocks is necessary! We have one but it was gifted. As long as it is comfy/ fits your needs I think you’re good ☺️ you can always use the chair you were given and if you end up needing a rocking one just go out and get one then!

I must admit I love my glider, but it’s not really necessary. When my son was little he used to only fall asleep when I was standing up and rocking him in my arms back and forth, so the glider was more for my own comfort and it was nice sometimes to rock while feeding him.

We have a glider and I honestly use it way more than I thought. I sit in it before naps and before bed, we rock a little, snuggle with back pats (calm down to quiet) then get laid in the crib. 
Sometimes my LO prefers to be lightly jostled rather than rocked, but I feel like the rocking is really useful.

I have an old wood rocking chair that my mom bought when she had me. I originally thought I didn’t need anything in the nursery and would just feed baby in bed but boy was i wrong. Being able to soothe a fussy baby by rocking in the middle of the night has been so helpful

I hated the rockers and gliders. To me they didn’t offer enough support while breastfeeding and didn’t offer very much padding. I ended up getting an oversized arm chair and that has been the best. I do have a traditional rocking chair in my living room but for the nursery I just wanted something super comfy with good armrests.

Power rocker recliner... one of the best investments we made for the nursery. My son is 2 and it’s still one of his places he likes to go to calm down.

I seem to be against most others on this, but I breastfed my first for 15 months and he woke up every 2-3 hours a night until we were done..
I was constantly sleep deprived and had one of those wooden glider chairs with the thin padding and ottoman. It did the job, but I often fell asleep feeding and would wake up so relieved baby hadn’t fallen forward. 
There was a couple of times I had to reach over to grab something and the chair was so unstable it fell on its side with me and baby in it. 
It was 100% a necessity for me. However this time around I invested in a good reclining chair just in case I breastfeed this one as long as my last. I think it will be 100% worth the price it’s actually my most anticipated item for the nursery and BuyBuyBaby always offers coupons on basically everything.
