IUI with low sperm count?

I know IUI is used for low sperm counts. But I’m kind of freaking out. I just had my first IUI and my husband’s count was only 3.8 million. Everything I’m reading says anything under 6 is a waste of time?!?!? Help soothe me PLEASE!

IUI is actually not recommended for low spent counts, IVF is. I’m not sure why REs still do them at that point. Less that ten mill, you’re looking at a 5-10% chance of success, depending on your numbers. My doctor won’t IUI under 5 mill, but I’m even skeptical of that. If this one doesn’t succeed, don’t spend any more of your time and money on IUI. I wasted both, as well, and I wish I had found the research earlier. IVF with ICSI for male factor is extremely successful. I’m crossing my fingers for you, though. I hope you’re one of the lucky ones!

My opinion......IUI with male factor infertility is useless. Did it 4 times. Wish I would have put all that money toward ivf. My husband usually had around 6-10 million. When we did ivf we had to do icsi on all of my eggs so we could have done 500 iuis and they wouldn’t have worked. 
That being said, it only takes one so anything could happen!

My partner has a low count. He tried IUI 3x with his previous partner. When we started this process the doctor did not recommend trying IUI. She told us we could but she would recommend moving straight to IVF so that’s what we did. I’m in my TWW now.
