My SO has a son with another woman. He knocked her up when he was 17 and she was 20. Apparently she cheated on him a lot. Not once or twice, more like going to clubs and having threesomes before and while pregnant. He stayed because there was a baby involved. But when she had the baby she ran off and won't let him see his son but she found out I'm pregnant and now wants child support, But that's another story. We were talking about who's last name the baby will get and he said the baby could have his name but he wants a paternity test before signing the birth certificate. I asked why and he said even though he knows it's his, it'll give him peace of mind that if we were to ever get into it he could still have and see his ki . Basically he wants proof that the kid is his in case of a dispute that splits us up. Now I'm not a woman who would keep my child away from a father that wants to see them because it was done to me and it sucks and no doubt if I ran into hard times that child will go straight to their father until I can get it together. But he insists on the paternity test. I'm not offended because I know it's just for his peace of mind and I'll do anything to make him happy. But I don't know if giving him a paternity test could cause a rift in our relationship whether large or small. Would you give it to him? If so why? If not why?
