3 day versus 5 day transfer ????

Pros cons? Any advice? I had a failed frozen transfer with 2 day 6 blasts... now i am wondering if I should try 3 day transfer?

Most will say day 5 is best and while they aren't wrong, a day 3 transfer of 2 embryos and a day 5 transfer of 1 embryo actually carry almost the same success rates in terms of pregnancy. So they are alot more comparable than most think. Day 3s are also a really good choice for women who's embryos don't make it to day 5, or women with lower quality eggs. The amazing and interesting things about embryos is that they can actually self correct in the uterus, so having an earlier transfer with a "lesser quality" day 3 egg can yield a positive, live birth outcome. Embryos sometimes thrive better in a uterus vs an incubator because the uterine environment can encourage cell growth, causing the embryo to grow into the blast stage and implant instead of in a lab environment where they don't thrive and fall off. 
Definitely do some research on this and consult your doc. But don't rule out day 3 embryos just yet. I know plenty of people that have had success with them!

5 day transfer. If you have 5-day blasts of good quality, they have a much higher chance of success. Ideally, do genetic testing and do a frozen transfer. As far as I know that has the highest chances of success. Good luck!!

There's no benefit to doing a 3 day transfer if you have a decent number reaching blast stage, as the time between day 3 and day 5 weeds out a bunch of bad ones that wouldn't have progressed if they'd been transferred.
The main reason to do a day 3 is if you have very few embryos, so you can at least get to transfer something and have a shot at pregnancy, rather than have a 0% chance when you have none progress to day 5.

My embryos don't make it past day 3 in the lab, so even tho statistically, day 5 frozen has a higher chnace of working, my embryos never make it that far, so day 3 will be the only way I can do a transfer.  But if your embryos can grow to day 5, there isn't much benefit in a day 3 transfer.

By day 5 you see more growth. Some don’t grow past a few days so you don’t know if they’re really good. You just have a higher chance at 5 day embryos.
