Cameras or no?

We just hired a babysitter to come to our home to watch our baby boy. I hired her from a Facebook group so I do not know her but we are doing a background check on her and we also interviewed her as well. But we are thinking about getting a camera to install in the living room where she will be with our baby most of the time.Do you think it’s rude or uncomfortable for her if we did that? I feel like she would be uncomfortable but she is watching our most important thing and it will be a peace of mind for us. What does everyone think?

We are on camera almost everywhere we go.  It’s your home.  It’s your right.  Ultimately, you are the one responsible for your child.  That includes knowing everything that happens to them even when you are not there.  I would put a camera in the living room, kitchen and nursery.

I am a child care teacher and I like the fact we have cameras. It protects not only the child from harm but also me from anyone saying I did anything wrong. So if she don’t like cameras I would say that’s a red flag 🤷🏻‍♀️😁

Make sure you have someone who knows what they are doing in cyber security protect your network if you’re going to install WiFi enabled cameras. It is so easy to hack into home cameras even for inexperienced hackers..

Since I’ve watched that video of a babysitter yelling so loud and hysterically at a baby I would suggest you to install those cam. Safety of baby is more important than how the babysitter feels about you controlling her.

Im putting a camera in every room in my house except the bathrooms (obvious reason for that) but I think it’s a good idea. I would honestly get the 2 way cameras so you can actually talk to her through them just in case. Sometimes if something happens getting the space to text may take too long same with calling.

I like the camera idea. When I worked in day care several years ago, there  were cameras. However I do think she should at least know because not telling is almost like saying you already don’t trust her without giving her a chance and plus what if she fart or something embarrassing lol 🤣 then later find a camera, I would not want to work for a family that was secretly recording me.

You can, but you have to tell her or she may feel very violated by it and it could also be illegal. She’ll very likely agree that it’s fine, but that way shes aware of it

First off make sure you get recommendations from other people for her, I know you said you’re doing a background check.
Then I would tell her, I would feel an invasion of privacy if someone didn’t tell me ahead of time they had cameras. Also look up your state laws because it differs everywhere but looks like it’s generally acceptable.
