Alcoholic fianc'e

Please no mean comments just asking for help. Would you leave your fiance' if he was a severe alcoholic? Or would you give it time and see if he changes? I also have a set of twins that are almost 2. I had to call the police on him last night because he became physically abusive towards me. Apparently he doesnt remember what went down last night. He is a great person without drinking. But as soon as he consumes alcohol he becomes a totally different person. He becomes mean, threatening, vulgar, agitated, he yells and refuses not to do anything. He purposely tries to start arguments with me. I don't know what to do. And right now I'm stuck living with him because I'm not working and do not have childcare for the children. And it makes it harder during covid.
