Blood and cramps after cervix check; 39 weeks

I had my 39w appointment today and he checked my cervix and said I am about 1cm dilated. Since I got home (6 hours ago) I have been experiencing really painful cramps in my lower belly as well as in my back and sides. They have been painful enough to take my breath away and make me have to breathe through them, and I am having brown bleeding. So far it has not been enough to fill a panty liner, but I have been feeling it come out since I got home and it feels similar to the start of a normal period for me.

I left a message for my OB just asking if that was normal before I worry myself, I just wanted to know if any of you mamas experienced this as well? I know irritation to the cervix can cause bleeding but even rough(ish) sex with my partner hasn’t made me bleed, and neither has any of my previous cervical checks
