Care package ideas for depression & anxiety
My brother in law has been suffering terribly with depression and anxiety for the past few months, with things coming to a head very recently when he tried to take his own life. He was sectioned, but has now been allowed home, and he’s trying his best to just get on with life but is struggling. He has random triggers that will set off panic attacks and he feels like he’s losing himself to his poor mental health. My sister has been there for him as much as she can, as have the rest of the family, but it is also starting to take a huge toll on her, which she feels guilty for and ends up feeling worse, making him feel guilty for putting her through this, and it’s one huge vicious circle. They’re trying their best, and I just feel for them so much whilst feeling like there’s not much I can do to help.
I want to put together a care package sort of thing for them, but am struggling with what to include. So far I have:
-A plant
-Small book on mindfulness
-Camomile tea
-Selection of their favourite snacks
-Two home cooked meals each (they’ll be made fresh on the day I take it to them)
-Subscription to a yoga/meditation app
-Weighted blanket
-Vitamins & tissues
Is this ok, or should I add/take away anything?
Thanks!
